As a social enterprise, ArtsIn relies on its team of volunteers.
We have no paid positions, as yet, so everything depends on the good will and
dedication of the people who give up their time to do things for us.
Volunteers work on our magazine and also on some of the activities
involved in the running of the social enterprise company.
On the volunteer side we send people to cover live shows,
including music gigs and concerts, comedy shows, poetry and spoken word performances,
art and craft exhibition, plays and drama, dance and much more. We cover all
kinds of art, culture and entertainment including Asian and African and Caribbean
cultural events and so we are particularly keen to find people who are in tune
with these.
We try to cover traveling expenses where ever we can. When
sending volunteers out to cover events, we provide free tickets so they can get
into the venues without having to pay.
Volunteers will need to have access to a computer and the
Internet; most copy is submitted by email. we can also provide a photographer
to go with a writer where needed.
We provide a tool kit of resources for writers and can provide
training in news journalism and creative writing.
Most events take place in the evenings - week days and weekends
- but some events take place during the day, particularly on Saturdays and Sundays.
Volunteers who complete assignments with us will get their
work published on the magazine.
We can give references to future employers and can advise
on what to put into your CV once you have completed a period of time with us.
On the company side of things there are opportunities to
learn about marketing, advertising, sales and business planning.
Please note that we do not have an office so this is not
an office-based opportunity. All our volunteers work either at home or at places
where they can gain access to the Internet.

magazine are posted on the magazine's Vacancies
Page.
We have a distribution list that enables us to send emails
out to all the volunteers on our list.
If you would like to be a volunteer with ArtsIn, whether
on the magazine or on other aspects of the company's services, please contact
us via the magazine.
Members area
Our company web site has a log in page where volunteers can
see what assignments are up for grabs. Once an event has been assigned, the name
of the volunteer doing that task is entered.
Assignments can cover any aspects of the arts - music, plays,
exhibitions, comedy, dance - but live rock gigs are especially in demand.
We email all volunteers on a regular basis (about once a
month) to keep them up to date with what's happening.
From time to time we gather the volunteers together so they
can meet each other, socialise and chat about what they have been doing. Dates
for these events are emailed out in the newsletters.
